1. Responsible entity, platform, scope, and effective date
KANAB PRESERVATION FOUNDATION is responsible for Kanab Memory Atlas on Android. This policy covers version 1.0.0 of the offline app and is effective July 31, 2026. It does not describe a separate website, Play Store, operating system, or service controlled by another party.
2. Intended audience and facilitator boundary
The app is a general-audience heritage-learning resource for adults, families, educators, community learners, and visitors. A parent, guardian, teacher, or other authorized adult should choose and supervise any use by a child. The app does not connect learners with staff, volunteers, historians, or other users.
3. Purpose and main functions
Kanab Memory Atlas presents an interpretive Five Seats timeline, a civic-work ledger, a 35-plate visual atlas, material-reading activities, community context, responsible-visit guidance, a source desk, accessibility settings, and this privacy ledger. Generated artwork is labeled as interpretive illustration and is not presented as archival photography.
4. Data collected, transmitted, and not collected
The app does not collect or transmit personal information. It has no network permission and does not receive names, email addresses, telephone numbers, precise location, device identifiers, photos, audio, contacts, payment information, or user-generated content. Screen choices remain on the device and are not sent to KANAB PRESERVATION FOUNDATION.
5. On-device preferences and session state
The app stores only optional display preferences, such as large text and high contrast, in Android SharedPreferences on the device. Temporary navigation state, the selected collection, and the currently open plate exist only for the local session. These items are used solely to operate the interface.
6. Sensitive records, youth records, and free-text notes
The app does not create profiles, attendance records, school records, family histories, health records, precise visit logs, incident reports, or youth records. It offers no free-text field, upload, camera, microphone, or storytelling submission. Do not use the app to record confidential information about a person, family, property, or cultural site.
7. Permissions
Kanab Memory Atlas requests no runtime permissions. It does not request Internet, location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, notifications, storage, Bluetooth, advertising ID, or nearby-device access. Android may display a package-scoped system permission generated by AndroidX for internal receiver protection; that permission is not requested from the user and does not expose device data.
8. Accounts, login, and account deletion
The app has no registration, login, account, membership, cloud profile, or authentication system. Account deletion is therefore not applicable. Local preferences can be erased through the in-app Clear local settings action, Android application storage controls, or uninstalling the app.
9. Ads, analytics, tracking, attribution, telemetry, and SDKs
The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting service, attribution technology, tracking pixel, remote configuration, telemetry, social SDK, payment SDK, or third-party network SDK. It does not use an advertising identifier and does not build an audience or behavior profile.
10. Sharing, disclosure, sale, and third parties
Because the app does not collect or transmit personal data, KANAB PRESERVATION FOUNDATION does not sell, rent, share, or disclose app-user personal data. The app does not provide personal data to data brokers, advertisers, analytics vendors, affiliates, or other organizations.
11. External links, contact, export, and network behavior
The source desk displays citation addresses as reference text, but the app does not open a browser, fetch those pages, contact a server, send email, export content, or submit a form. If a user independently visits an external service, that service operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
12. Retention
Display preferences remain locally until the user clears them, clears Android app storage, or uninstalls the app. Temporary screen state ends when Android discards the app process. KANAB PRESERVATION FOUNDATION has no server copy and therefore retains no app-user personal data.
13. Deletion, backup, restore, and device transfer
The Privacy Ledger includes a Clear local settings control. Android app storage controls and uninstall also remove local preferences. Cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for the app, so its preferences are not intentionally copied to a new device or restored from cloud backup.
14. Security measures and limits
Data minimization, offline operation, no runtime permissions, disabled backup, and the absence of third-party network SDKs reduce privacy exposure. No device or software is perfectly secure. Users should maintain device updates, a screen lock, and appropriate physical control of the device.
15. Children, Families, and safeguarding
The app does not knowingly collect information from children and does not offer chat, public profiles, messaging, targeted advertising, precise location, uploads, or unsupervised contact. Children should use the app only with a parent, guardian, educator, or other authorized adult. Adults should avoid connecting a learning activity to a child’s identity, routine, school, or location.
16. Heritage, visit safety, and professional-advice limitation
Content is general heritage education, not legal, conservation, archaeological, accessibility, travel, emergency, or professional advice. Interpretive artwork is not documentary evidence. Observe monuments, buildings, cemeteries, landscapes, and materials only where public access is permitted; respect barriers and property boundaries; do not collect, move, clean, repair, rub, climb, or excavate historic material. Follow current site rules and seek qualified help when needed.
17. Policy changes and user choices
A future release may update this policy when app behavior or legal requirements change. The effective date and in-app text will be revised before materially different data practices begin. Users may decline optional preferences, clear local settings, stop using the app, or uninstall it at any time.
18. Privacy contact
Privacy questions about Kanab Memory Atlas may be sent in writing to: KANAB PRESERVATION FOUNDATION, Kanab, Utah 84741, United States. Include the app name and version with the question, and do not include confidential or sensitive personal information.
